Introduction:

This document is a list of English-language books written about Queen Victoria, her family, and her descendants, as well as books authored by Queen Victoria and some of her descendants. It was created for those who want to know if a book exists about their favourite royal or royal-related descendant of Queen Victoria, or if a particular type of book exists about Queen Victoria. It is a subjective list, and it is not exhaustive. It includes currently available books, as well as out-of-print books. Most of the books are biographies and memoirs, but there are also general, genealogical and reference works.

I have attempted to provide at least one biography for as many as possible of Queen Victoria's descendants. Queen Victoria, however, is treated as a special case: there are seven categories of books for her, featuring nearly one hundred and sixty titles, including twenty-nine biographies. If a person’s name is not found in this list, it is because I do not know of a biography for this individual, or because there isn’t any English-language biography about this person.

There are five main sections: Royal Persons (shown in mostly alphabetical order by title of individual, and contains mostly biographical works), Royal Authors (non-biographical works written by royals), Royal Homes, Miscellaneous, and Queen Victoria.

The format shown for each book is: title, author, and year of publication. Reprint editions and alternate titles are shown, when known, and some commentaries are included.

An asterix (*) next to a name indicates that this individual has written (or co-authored), illustrated, or designed a book other than a biography. See ‘Royal Authors’ for examples of these works.

Please Note: The books in this list are not available for purchase or loan from the author of this document. However, most of these books can be borrowed at or through public or college and university libraries. Alternatively, a great many of these books can be purchased from various online booksellers.
