This page was originally set up for Sara Taylor so that she could share this experience and also give and receive support and information regarding this form of cancer called DSRCT. With that in heart, I (her husband Brad) will still keep this site running - to continue to share this story . . ..

DSRCT: Desmoplastic Small Round Blue Cell Tumour

DSRCT:

-mainly appears in young people (mostly men)
-DSRCT can go into peritoneum, liver and lymph-nodes
-DSRCT is a form of cancer that can "seed" itself in more than one place
-treatment can not guarantee that it will go away forever
-treatment is for long term control / remission

Normally the approach to treatment is to start with chemotherapy and then check the responsiveness of the chemotherapy. If responsive move onto peripheral stem-cell replacement

Peripheral stem-cell replacement has replaced bone marrow transplant and is less painful than bone marrow transplant BUT, need to chase the tumour away first and then go for stem cell replacement.

For a brief summary of the treatment Sara received click here ... for details see Treatment and Timeline

With this page we hope to share with you all the information that we can about DSRCT, and tell you about Sara

This page is written and maintained by Sara's husband Brad Gibson.
